Don Eugenio Gioachini planted the vineyard in 1946. Here he is cooking for a family gathering.

Aligning ourselves with the emerging heritage vineyard movement, we joined the Old Vine Conference in 2025. Our page on their website is here.

For us, a Heritage Vineyard, by nature, are old vines.  They preserve the history of ownership and most importantly the vines retain a connection with the original plant material by developing a vineyard specific clone or replanting with cuttings.  A heritage vineyard is a marriage of history, terroir, and vine. The DNA of the past, present, and future retain continuity. The heritage vineyard concept comprehends both the age of the vineyard— 80 years, in our case— and a commitment to maintaining the unique DNA of the vineyard clone.

Here is winemaker Ray Kaufman explaining the heritage linkage of Adelante Malbec with the Don Eugenio Vineyard.
